The Association for Structural Improvement of The Shipbuilding Industry (ASIS) of Japan has been conducting research on world shipbuilding demand forecast since 1991 to provide information for the stable operation of both the shipping and shipbuilding industries. On May 26, 1998, ASIS presented a report containing its latest forecasts. The report contains medium and long-term shipbuilding requirement forecasts for tankers and bulk carriers of 10,000 DWT and above until around the year 2010.This report was compiled using the ASIS prediction models based on analyses of seabome trade, fleet demand, scrapping tonnage and so on.
