Illinois voters set the slate for November's general election yesterday, clearing the way for competitive House election battles, as well as a showdown between embattled Gov. Pat Quinn (D) and venture capitalist Bruce Rauner (R). The Land of Lincoln hosted a relatively quiet primary season, with only three of the state's 18 House lawmakers facing primary challenges, and each winning with wide margins. Sen. Dick Durbin, who is seeking a fourth term, also ran unopposed in the Democratic primary. In the gubernatorial contest, Quinn easily defeated community organizer Tio Hardiman (D), 72 percent to 28 percent.
