Adventurous and risky play is an important part of growing up and is integral to helping children to stay happy and healthy, develop social skills and learn how to safely manage risk. Solihull Council wanted to make sure that their children experience all of the above elements by providing them with good quality, stimulating places to play, near to where they live. The brief was to design play areas with equipment that challenges children and encourages them to take risks in a safe environment.rnSutcliffe Play was first invited to tender in September 2008 on the design and refurbish of six existing play areas in the first phase of the scheme. This was successfully completed, utilising both natural and fixed play equipment, on time and in budget, by the end of February 2009.
