The fairground roundabout has a central mast which supports braced girders which extend radially outwards and upwards. A vertical bar is pivoted to the outer end of the girder and carries a gondola at its lower end. When the roundabout rotates the bars swing outwards under the effect of centrifugal force. This movement is controlled by a power cylinder (10) which is connected to a pivot at the end of a lug attached to the bar. The position of the pivot is closed to the dead centre of the mechanism when the gondola is in its lowest position.
