Changes in district representation, SEG Board publications position highlight proposed Bylaws changes

Each SEG district would elect two district representatives, regardless of member population, under one of five sets of Bylaws changes the SEG Council will consider at its 18 October meeting in New Orleans during the SEG Annual Meeting. All Active Members within any of the 12 SEG districts would become eligible to vote in district-representative elections and to hold the office if the Bylaws measure is approved by both the Council, in a two-thirds majority vote, and by a majority of Active Members in balloting that would follow Council approval. Today, Active Members who are represented on the Council through membership in an SEG section or associated society or a technical section are ineligible to vote in district elections or to hold office as a district representative. Also, the number of representatives from each district varies depending on the number . of Active Members within each district not represented by a section or associated society or a technical section.
