Railway traction fuels and their logistics

Only half of the French rail network is electrified. The remaining lines are worked with diesel-powered vehicles, supplied from a constantly evolving network of refuelling stations. Research is in progress to find ways of driving down diesel fuel consumption and developing alternative fuels.
