Mit einem dezentralen Konzept wirbt Burghausen an der Salzach für seine Landesgartenschau. Während sich die temporären Ausstellungsflächen auf die Höfe der mittelalterlichen Burg konzentrieren, entstand mit dem Stadtpark ein grüner Salon im Zentrum der Neustadt.%Burghausen in upper Bavaria is distinguishing itself by opening a decentralized state garden show this year. The design concentrates on three areas and their environs - the castle, the city park and the woods. The landscape architecture office Rehwaldt, Dresden, was chosen in 2000 by competition to realize the exhibition grounds. In order to emphasize the rift between the industrial and the medieval city, the design emphasis shifted during the planning phase to the make the castle and city park the center for the temporary exhibits. Key to developing the city park was the measure which linked the city hall to a former farm. The central meadow in the park is surrounded by highly stylized gardens, including one of herbaceous perennials and a flower grove. The planners utilize water as a central theme in the exhibit. The city hall is coupled with a water plaza, which is spanned by several wooden footbridges. The garden exhibits themselves are arranged in a progression from wet to dry lands.
