Landschaft als politisches Ziel

Mit der Europäischen Landschaftskonvention ist Landschaft ein politisches Ziel geworden. Fördergelder fließen in die Entwicklung von Kulturlandschaften und in ländliche Kooperationsmodelle. Nun ist es an den Landschaftsarchitekten, ebenfalls politisch zu werden, wenn sie die Landschaft mitgestalten wollen.%Landscape architecture differs so much from one country to another that finding a broad-based term for the field is difficult. Germany differentiates between landscape architecture and landscape planning, whereas other countries do not. It is difficult to imagine progressing to Europe-wide planning when individual countries lack concepts for specific disciplines, such as agricultural politics. During the recent European Landscape Convention, landscape architecture entered the realm of politics. Now funds for specific programs must be lobbied for. But how can landscape architects adapt themselves to the new political climate? In Germany most landscape architects execute projects on local, and sometimes national levels. Resources for projects on an EU scale are limited, although the BDLA, BSLA and EFLA are conducting a project to identify issues pertinent to the landscape on the EU level. Fortunately the EU has also set up promotional vehicles such as Interreg.
