CHILEAN MUSEUM OF PRE-COLUMBIAN ART EXTENSIONS

The new 'Chile before Chile' room is a unique opportunity to consolidate the institutional building and rework the spatial imaginaries of the Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art, neatly characterizing each of its various areas, one by one. The existing building is organized around two courtyards and an outdoor public gallery on the ground floor. Approximately 1,000 m~2 will be added to its exhibition space, along with two underground storage levels beneath the north and south courtyards. The project maintains the current entrance through the public gallery and the north courtyard, which is furnished for the reception, cafe and shop services. In order to include the north courtyard in the usable floor space, it was roofed with an inflated translucent Low-E ETFE membrane bubble.
