Shang Ma Kan Paleolithic Ruins εt White Tea Culture Museum

The museum is located in Xilong Village, Anji County, Zhejiang Province, which is a well-known white tea producer in China and the location of the Shang Ma Kan Paleolithic site. The site is about 1.3 km from where the museum was built and is still in the process of slow excavation. Compared to traditional museums, neither the Shang Ma Kan site culture nor the white tea culture is on display in a specific way. Rather, it will provide a venue for visitors to learn about both cultures in a more participatory way. Therefore, the design of the museum adopts a more flexible approach, with different sizes of exhibition halls scattered in the undulating site, connected by corridors, so that two groups of scattered and gathered exhibition halls along with educational space, shops, tea rooms and other related spaces can display different exhibition content and share the various activities around the exhibition. The architectural layout of the courtyard in Jiangnan area of China is well adapted to the use of this museum building.
