The health benefits of low-fat and fat-free milk and the high visibility of Smith's "yellow jug" were key components of the campaign. "Smith's milk is a recognizable brand in our region because of our distinctive Yellow Super Jug packaging, which university studies have shown protects milk better than any other color from flavor and nutrient loss due to harmful light rays," says Penny Baker, marketing manager, Smith Dairy Products Co. Orrville, Ohio. "Focus group panels have indicated that consumers prefer the taste of Smith's milk, which is another important differentiating factor."
