Kevin warwick was a normal english teenager who liked riding motorcycles after seeing Steve McQueen jump the barbed wire fence in the filmrnThe Great Escape.In 1970,at 16,he left school for an apprenticesriip at British Telecom installing and planning telephone systems. He studied electronic engineering at Aston University when microprocessors were first introduced. At 28 he received a Ph.D. in computer engineering and held a research post at Imperial College in London. He taught roboticsrnand computing at three different universities prior to being awarded a prestigious chair in cybernetics at the University of Reading at the age of 33.rnHe's also the world's only cyborg. Six years ago he had a 100-electrode array implanted in his forearm that allowed a computer to tap into the neuroelectric signals coursing through his arm. Using this connection, Warwick controlled an electric wheelchair and an artificial hand.
