Treating Melanoma

Last October we profiled compounds being tried as treatments for melanoma, the deadly skin cancer that can quickly spread through the body. Test results have been disappointing since. In December ipilimumab failed to shrink tumors in more than 10% of melanoma patients, missing the goal of makers Medarex and Bristol-Myers Squibb in a 155-patient trial.
