Americans consume about 15 pounds of seafood per person each year. Tuna ranks No.1 accounting for about 25% (3.4 lb.) of total fish consumption. Shrimp is second (2.8 lb.). Other favorites include Alaska Pollock, salmon, catfish and cod. The American Heart Association (AHA) recommends eating three ounces of fish, especially fatty fish (e.g., salmon, sardines, tuna) at least twice a week to help prevent heart disease. So include a variety of canned, fresh and frozen fish in your daily menus. Serve fish in salads, soups, sandwiches, wraps, pizza, tuna melts, paella, fish burgers, patties, quesadillas, croquettes, stir-fried dishes, pasta salads, dips and spreads.
