Nigel Halford's Opinion article in the June issue clearly and concisely reviews the 'pure scientist's' view of the GM debate, and challenges the motives of the activitists who have been at the forefront of opposition. This opens up the opportunity of a wider debate among professionals within the IFST to challenge such narrow, if pure scientific opinion, and introduce to the debate wider consumer considerations which it is the responsibility of professional food managers to represent.
