摘要

The aim of this review is to evaluate the current literature on the role of fruit and vegetable (F&V) consumption and their components in the prevention of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and dementia. The components investigated include vitamins C and E, carotenoids, polyphenols, and B vitamins. There is little research evaluating F&V intake and MCI. Studies find inconsistent relationships between F&V and their components and cognitive decline and dementia. Inconsistencies throughout the research on F&V and their components do not allow for strong conclusions to be made at this time regarding their influence on cognitive function. However, F& V should still be considered an important component of a healthy diet.
