Two all-grass wartime airfields, both used as Satellite Landing Grounds (SLGs) can be found within the area, but they need persistence and some imagination to track down! To the west of Cirencester is Overley, located to the north of Oakley Wood and on the minor road between Park Corner and Daglingworth. No buildings remain, but the flying area is apparent. Down Farm (illustrated) is to the north of the Westonbirt Arboretum and to the south of a minor road running from Westonbirt to Newington; as before, only the flat grass area -now used for polo - gives away its previous use.
