There are numerous preserved examples of the North American F-100 Super Sabre extant in the US, many of which are displayed in museums. One of the best known is F-100F 56-3837, currently resident at the vast National Museum of the USAF in Dayton, Ohio. On show within the attraction's Southeast Asia War Gallery, this Super Sabre flew high-speed forward air control (FAC) missions in the Vietnam War. During this time it was assigned to the 37th Tactical Fighter Wing, then based at Phu Cat in the country's Blnh Dinh province. F-100 units involved in the war included a mixture of single-seat and two-seat variants, both participating in bombing raids on enemy forces. As tactics developed, the two-seat F-100Fs were used for attacks on surface-to-air missile installations and for FAC (or 'Misty') operations.
