Douglas Skymaster damaged in US storms

The Berlin Airlift Historical Foundation (BAHF) was dealt a huge blow on April 13 when its flagship - Douglas C-54E Skymaster Spirit of Freedom - was severely damaged as several tornados swept across South Carolina, USA. The aircraft was parked at Lowcountry Regional Airport near Walterboro following modification work. President of the BAHF, Timothy Chopp, explained: "The C-54 was in the wrong place at the wrong time. Work was completed in mid-February, and the plan was to leave Walterboro in late March. But with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic having a catastrophic impact on this year's airshow calendar, the logical choice was to leave the aeroplane there for the time being."
