The ready-to-fly (RTF) and the al-most-ready-to fly (ARF) models that now permeate the radio control portion of our hobby actually have their roots in freeflight. Thanks to Bob Clemens' alerting us to a very interesting and entertaining web site entitled, "Let's Go Flying", hosted by Dave Pecota, we are taken on a historical journey that traces the development of early RTF and ARF manufacturing efforts dating back to the early 1900s!
