A320 re-engining decision in 2010

Airbus is closing on a decision to re-engine the A320 to counter emerging near-term threats as it sees no next-generation narrow-body aircraft arriving before 2024. A decision to launch an upgraded A320 family is expected by the end of next year, reports Flightglobal financial news service Commercial Aviation Online. According to a senior Airbus source, the airframer is in talks with CFM International, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls-Royce and International Aero Engines. A go-ahead before 2011 would allow service entry around 2015.
