Germany swoops for Heron TP

Israel Aerospace Industries' (IAI) Heron TP unmanned air vehicle has been selected by Germany as the preferred system for its future requirements. Airbus Defence & Space and IAI last year signed a teaming agreement linked to a proposed continuation of services to the German military with the new Heron variant. This would follow the Bundeswehr's use of the smaller Heron 1 in Afghanistan, performed under lease with the Airbus unit.
