The May/June 2012 issue of International Filtration News showed two different ways of plotting "filtration efficiency versus particle diameter." The author ex plained [p. 37] how straight-lines ap pear when the vertical scale, filtration efficiencies of individual-diameter par ticles, plot against particle diameters on the horizontal scale: To obtain that straight line, con struct (on log/log paper) the vertical scale as log (log R), where R is the ratio of the numbers of d-diameter particles in the feed stream to those in the fil trate.
