PURPOSE: A method for manufacturing benzene dicarboxylic acid is provided to manufacture the benzene dicarboxylic acid having a bigger average particle diameter while keeping a general particle size uniform, to control the loss of the benzene dicarboxylic acid or the degradation of a yield, and to improve the efficiency of filtration.;CONSTITUTION: A method for manufacturing benzene dicarboxylic acid includes a step of oxidizing dimethylbenzene of an polar organic solvent into gas containing oxygen at the presence of a catalyst containing a transition metal, a bromine compound, a urea derivative, and an imide compound. The polar organic solvent includes a mixed solvent of saturated carboxylic acid and water.
