There was a time when political sensitivities meant that the UK/ Gibraltar, Spain and Morocco acted independently in offering bunkers, crew change and stores provision and other agency activity. This has softened, although tension between Spain and the UK (over Gibraltar) on the one hand, and between Morocco and Spain (over Ceuta) on the other, means that business isn't always conducted in the most efficient way.rnNevertheless it is now possible to regard the Gibraltar Strait as a single region; the four ports are competing service stations on the transit from the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and from Northern Europe to West and Southern Africa.
