The paper presents the concept of route optimization for vessels carrying dangerous goods that are transiting near the passenger ferries. Defined parameters are taken into account in the construction of a mathematical model. Based on data from AIS, statistical data on the likelihood of a collision of passenger ships with chemical tankers and models of the effects of such collisions has developed a method of isolating areas of high risk of collision, which should be especially taken into account in the process of route optimization. The article presents an algorithm that optimizes the route planning for vessels carrying dangerous goods. The results provide a basis to develop such an optimal route planning of vessels carrying dangerous goods, to increase safety of navigation, and thus avoid a collision with a particularly dangerous ships.
