The method involves defining physical parameters which influence the occurrence of motion sickness of passengers in a ship. The risk characteristics are determined by evaluating the link between the physical parameters and occurrence of motion sickness. The position data of the ship is determined with respect to time and vehicle-specific parameters indicating the determined risk characteristics are calculated with respect to the position data of ship.
