The authors describe the technology behind and advantages of using hydraulic modelling as the engine for dynamic temperature optimization. At H0rning District Heating in Denmark, dynamic temperature optimization has resulted in a supply temperature reduction of about 8℃ leading to a heat loss reduction of 1.5 %, equal to a total saving of ?60,000 per year. These results can be projected into the overall Danish district heating industry leading to a potential saving of about ?15-20 million per year by utilizing dynamic temperature optimization.
