DHC14 - Forum for District Heating and Cooling Research

Over 200 participants from 24 countries joined the 14th International Symposium on District Heating and Cooling (DHC14) early in September in Stockholm/Sweden hosted by the Swedish District Heating Association. A brief survey in the plenary showed that half of the participants took part for the first time and the other half once again. This proves that the event is the best established forum for district heating and cooling research and the most important meeting place for researchers in this field. In addition, this means that with new participants always new ideas and knowledge are introduced. The Symposium gathered the international research community around issues important for district energy development. Over 60 speakers gave a wide range of topics. A number of parallel sessions covered the themes low temperature district heating for future energy systems, planning and development of urban energy systems, resource efficiency and environmental performance, key elements in district heating and cooling systems and customer relations, market issues, pricing and costs. In addition, poster sessions informed about the latest developments in the exhibition.
