Explaining Environmental Investments: A Study of Brazilian Companies

Since companies can choose to invest voluntarily in the environment, several questions arise: 1. What drives environmental investments? 2. Is there any relation between environmental investments and environmental liabilities? 3. What factors explain environmental investments? This paper seeks to contribute to the discussion of this issue by identifying the determinants of environmental investments by Brazilian companies as disclosed in their corporate reports.
