Ethics and justice for the environment

In this ambitious project, Adrian Armstrong seeks a comprehensive account of environmental justice that would marry the best of the political movement with that of the environmental ethics tradition, and arbitrate competently in the ensuing disputes. To this end, the reader is given a review of the activist-led environmental justice movement, followed by a brief history of theories of justice, from Sophocles to Amartya Sen and Martha Nussbaum, and a whistle-stop tour of environmental ethics: eco-hedonism to deep ecology, Christianity to the Gaia hypothesis.
