OSHA Retooling Offender Program

Enforcement under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970 (OSHAct) is chronically criticized as inadequate, mismanaged, and underfunded. While these charges are generally directed at all OSHA enforcement, a recent report from the Department of Labor's OIG got more specific by claiming that across-the-board deficiencies were found in OSHA's Enhanced Enforcement Program (EEP), one of the agencies attempts at specialized enforcement.rnWhile not agreeing with all OIG's criticisms, OSHA committed to retooling the program. Should the upgrade occur, employers who might be targeted by EEP are advised to comprehensively check the adequacy of their worker-safety compliance programs. The consequences of failing to do so may be major.
