摘要

It is rare when an anthology brings together so many solid pieces that cohere so well, in this case to demonstrate the persistence and deepening of environmental injustice that characterizes the former Soviet Union today. Among the ten articles, many address the terrible social and cultural costs of the booming extractive industries in the ex-Soviet republics. The initial article, by Brian Donahoe, sets the stage by looking at the structure of Russian environmental law (and, by extension, we might add, law in Kazakhstan, Azerbaijan, and most of the other republics).
