At Upton Cross we feel that in order to create a world of global citizens, education must be a priority. Education for Sustainable Development is not an additional subject - it's our school ethos, hence our motto 'Educating children for Life'. We take a whole school approach, looking for every opportunity to develop our children as global citizens with an understanding of sustainability - pupils who care for themselves, for each other and for the wider world and its future. Our children make practical contributions to school policy and practice through an active school council and Eco-committee. Over the last 3 years we have been one of 10 schools nationwide trialling WWF'srndevelopment plan which aims to provide a framework to develop ESD across all areas of school life. We use cross curricular projects to extend our children's thinking and aim to fully meet the 8 doorways of The National Framework for SustainablernSchools as follows:
