Curriculum reform and 'environmental citizenship'

The phrase "environmental citizenship" is not in the Scottish or English curriculums. So it is useful here, where the aim is to evaluate current Scottish curriculum reform for a wider readership. Before explaining the concept, it might also be helpful to contrast the Scottish and English contexts. There are similarities between the curriculums in Scotland and England. Both aim to "enable all young people to become successful learners, confident individuals and responsible citizens" (Qualifications and Curriculum Authority, 2008; Scottish Executive, 2004:12)1.
