Report Aims To Improve Image Of Packaging

The UK's Advisory Committee on Packaging (ACP), has published a report aimed at bringing "a better balance" to the debate on packaging recovery and recycling.rnThe study "Packaging in Perspective", published this month, highlights the work that has already been done in the UK to reduce the environmental impact of packaging.rnAccording to the report, packaging accounts for less than three per cent of all solid waste in the UK and that 60 per cent of it is recycled each year.rnIt also claims that ￡1.5 billion (€ 1.83 billion) has been spent by UK businesses in the last 10 years to double the amount of packaging recovered and recycled (from three million tonnes to six million tonnes a year).
