NPDES Electronic Reporting Rule Aims To Improve Data, Reduce Reports

EPA has released its proposed rule for electronic reporting of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) data required under the Clean Water Act (CWA), arguing the move would generate better-quality compliance data and reduce reporting requirements for states. The agency released the proposal in a July 30 Federal Register notice. It is accepting comment on the rule until Oct. 28, and the agency says it will issue a supplemental notice if comments require "significant changes" to the rule.
