The European Commission has launched a consultation on the restriction of hazardous substances in electrical and electronic waste (RoHS) Directive 2002/95/EC this month.rnThe main aim is to see if any further substances should be omitted from the scope of the Directive. The consultation, run by the Oko-Institut and Fraunhofer IZM on behalf of the European Commission, will collect comments on the new exemption requests.rnThe results will be forwarded to the Technical Adaptation Committee of the Directive and the Commission services (required to consult the relevant stakeholders before amending the Annex) so it can provide an account of the information received.
