Commission consults on five RoHS waivers

The European Commission is consulting stakeholders on five different requests for exemptions from an EU ban on dangerous substances in electrical and electronic equipment. The ban in the restriction of hazardous substances in EEE directive (RoHS, recast two years ago into directive 2011/65/EU) mainly covers heavy metals and the exemption requests are for: "Lead as thermal stabiliser in Polyvinyl Chloride (PVC) used as a base for substrates in amperometric, potentiometric and conductometric electrochemical sensors".
