The government is consulting on proposed revisions to two directives on waste electrical goods, including controversial requirements on what has to be removed before recycling.rnThe business department (BERR) is consulting on proposed revisions to the WEEE and RoHS directives.rnIn December, the European Commission issued proposals to revise them by 2012 (ENDS Report 407, pp 59-60). The directives govern the recycling of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) and restrict what hazardous substances electrical goods can contain.
