MEPs meet for packed environmental agenda

The European Commission's climate and energy package, adopted in January this year, will be a major focus of next week's European Parliament Environment Committee. A draft report will be presented by UK Liberal MEP Chris Davies on carbon capture and storage on Monday. On Wednesday, Irish centre right MEP Avril Doyle will lead debate on the greenhouse gas emission allowance trading system, and Finnish Green Satu Hassi will turn MEPs' attention to shared efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions (for more information, see stories this issue). Swedish centre right MEP Anders Wijkman's opinion on the renewables energy directive (for the Industry, Research and Energy Committee), Parliament's fourth contribution to the climate and energy package, will also be discussed on Monday.
