EU will not meet environmental targets, says 6th EAP rapporteur

The EU will achieve neither its goal of halting biodiversity loss by 2010, nor its objective of reducing natural resource use and waste. That is the strong message of the European Parliament Environment Committee report on the mid term review of the 6th Community and Environment Action Programme, adopted at the 26 February meeting. The report, adopted almost unanimously with only one vote against, evaluates the implementation of the 6th Community and Environment Action Programme (6th EAP) that looks at EU environmental policies since 2002 and assesses the Commission's 2007 mid term review on the programme.
