Ireland to set strict efficiency standards for light bulbs

Standard light bulbs are set to be a thing of the past in Ireland; following the Environment Ministry announcement that it wanted to introduce minimum energy efficiency standards for light bulbs next year. Environment minister John Gormley said that the ultimate aim of the measure would be to save more than €180 million for consumers and reduce emissions in Ireland by 800,000 tonnes or by one per cent of its total.
