Final regulatory amendments published Jan. 15 align Canadian energy efficiency standards for light bulbs with those in the U.S., including permitting the sale in Canada of incandescent halogen bulbs. The availability of incandescent halogen bulbs in Canada, which wasn't permitted under the original standards issued in December 2008 that apply to products manufactured in 2014 and beyond, provides more lighting options for Canadian consumers, reduces the regulatory compliance burden on industry and supports the government's policy of alignment with U.S. standards, Natural Resources Canada said in a regulatory impact analysis published with the final amendments in the Canada Gazette, Part Ⅱ.
