Mep Calls For Alignment Of Emas And Iso Definitions

British Socialist MEP Linda McAvan is calling for an alignment of definitions used by the EU's ecomanagement and audit scheme (EMAS) and the more successful International Standards Organsiation equivalent, ISO 14001.rnIn a report on the European Commission proposal to revise the EMAS system, McAvan says aligning the definitions would "help organisations step up more easily from ISO to EMAS."rnMcAvan says that in the ten years that EMAS has been in existence, many alternative voluntary tools and standards have been established at the national and international level, some of which attract more participants than EMAS.
