MEPs call for EU to use WHO definition of endocrine disruptors

The EU should adopt the World Health Organisation (WHO)'s definition of endocrine disrupting chemicals (EDCs) which stipulates there should be adverse effects and an endocrine mode of action, according to a cross-party amendment adopted by MEPs last week. The amendment was one of a series that all of the European Parliament's political groups except the Conservatives supported at the Environment, Public Health and Food Safety Committee on 24 January (although the Conservatives did back many of the compromise amendments). The Committee was voting on a report from Swedish Socialist Asa Westlund.
