Parliamentary committees in turf war over forest protection

The European Parliament's Environment and Agriculture Committees have locked horns over which one should be responsible for writing a report responding to the Commission's Green Paper on forest protection and climate change.The chairs of both committees, Jo Leinen (German Socialist) for ENVI and Paolo De Castro (Italian Socialist) for AGRI have both bombarded Klaus-Heiner Lehne (Germany, European People's Party), who heads up the conference of (committee) chairs, with letters on the conflict of competence between the two.
