Commission to release 2009 emissions data

The European Commission was to announce verified emissions data per installation on 1 April, shortly after we went to press. Aggregated information will only be made available however in May.rnIndustry analyst Point Carbon predicts that the data will confirm that the economic downturn has had an even greater impact on industrial production and power demand than last year. It estimates that 2009 emissions will be down by roughly 11 per cent, to 1,869 Mt, compared with 2008 figures. Last year the economic slump resulted in a 6 per cent reduction in emissions compared to 2008.
