MEPs failing to back plan to make 2013 year of food waste

A written parliamentary declaration that would make 2013 the year of food waste is under threat as just over a week before its lapse date only 108 MEPs have signed up, far short of the 369 needed for it to be adopted as European Parliament policy. A cross-party group of MEPs put forward the resolution aimed at making the fight against food waste official parliamentary policy in June (see EE&PL, June 15, 2011, p5).
