There is full agreement between the EU's farming and environment chiefs on the role agriculture must play in preserving natural capital and providing ecosystem services, it emerged last week. As the debate gathered speed over how far environmental concerns should permeate Common Agricultural Policy (CAP) reform, EU Farm Commissioner Dacian Ciolos and Environment counterpart Janez Potocnik put on a united front, outlining a common vision of CAP reform as a vehicle for supporting and compensating ecosystem services.
